Maybe would be useful this tutorial: Verbose Linux installation. http://marwp.cla.umn.edu/gis/docs/verbose_install.html This step by step tutorial helped me to install Mapserver on CentOS and Kubuntu back in 2006/7. Then you can put your pmapper project whitin Apache www folder Also, you can try with a FGS even the pge doesnt include Red hat 5.5, includes Fedora as recommended plattform.
