Dear all,

I would like to start using p.mapper but so far I haven't managed to
install it. One of the first steps of the quick install guide is the
installation of MapServer and PHP/MapScript. Following the link
provided to the MapServer page I learned that I must compile MapServer
from the sources with a particular configuration so that MapScript
gets installed. And on to it I went.

I spent the last two days compiling and installing libraries on which
MapServer depends, and many others required by those on which it
depends (confused?). Right now I'm unable to install OpenSSL, which
seems to be taken some issue with my processor architecture, PCRE
which keeps on complaining about packages that are already installed,
and PHP itself, which is asking for a package called suhosin_patch
that I have no idea or what may be.

Even installing Qgis/GRASS before it was added to the repos was
easier. Is there any simpler way to install p.mapper on Debian/Ubuntu?

Thank you very much,

Luís
