if you want to give it a try with raster layers and selection, change in 
  incphp/xajax/x_select.php, line 94
from
   if ($mapLayer->type < 3 && ...
to
   if ($mapLayer->type < 4 && ...

You should turn off highlighting in the XML config file to avoid errors.
