You can move to next / previous search result, and generally to next / previous ee-menu position, without leaving the page buffer. You can also move through the history of pages as they were opened. But it does not reflect switching buffers, should it?

What do you mean? Are you asking if the the currently opened page should be changed when moving through the search results?
