Thanks! I put up a quick response... > Would it be possible to make the Link shortcut notation closer to some > of the stuff that's been proposed before? > > On Kingdom-Animal-Canine.Main > > Kingdom (grandparent) [[^.Kingdom.]] or [[...Kingdom.]] > Plant (uncle) [[...-Plant.]] > Grass (cousin) [[...-Plant-Grass.]] > Animal (parent) [[..]] > Wolf (child) [[Wolf]] > Feline (sibling) [[..-Feline.]] > Cat (nephew) [[..-Feline.Cat]] > > Though the number of dots might be confusing, true. I do find this a bit confusing, and would personally be more inclined to use something more doslike, like: [[..\..\Uncle\Cousin.page]], it's just it looks really problematic. > Perhaps the ^ for relative up is better. > Kingdom (grandparent) [[^^.]] or existing [[Kingdom.]] > Plant (uncle) [[^^-Plant.]] > Grass (cousin) [[^^-Plant-Grass.]] > Animal (parent) [[^]] > Wolf (child) [[Wolf]] > Feline (sibling) [[^-Feline.]] > Cat (nephew) [[^-Feline.Cat]] I do like this! And it would be pretty easy. I don't see why we couldn't have both the *'s for absolute paths, and the ^'s for relative paths. The markup would be virtually identical, just a slight change in the function that produces the link. Maybe can have that ready later today. > Note that I'm using the already-existing "end > the link with a dot to get the home-page for that group" markup. Didn't know that existed--but GREAT!!! That was something I really wanted but wasn't sure how to do. Happy sigh of relief...
