It's standard behavior in PmWiki for the commented markers (e.g.
<!--HTMLFooter-->) to remain even after "substitution" by dynamic
content. The link on PmWiki.org I provided earlier demonstrates that
behavior.

What is the "require" call you are making to activate the map? It
should be something like:

require_once("path/to/cookbook/GoogleMapAPI/GoogleMapAPI.php");

It looks like the GmaDebug needs to be beefed up a bit.
