Not a dumb question at all. Not all Wikis are the same in this
respect; MediaWiki *does* allow '(' ')' in page names -- it's just that
PmWiki doesn't.
In retrospect I somewhat wish that I had chosen '{' and '}' to mean
"suppress text in the link" instead of parens.
Is it to late to change if it's done slowly, i.e. to begin with allow '{'
and '}' to also suppress text?
John Rankin and I had discussed the possibility that '{' and '}' could
be used to add text. :-)
How about the following links, where the link text is shown to the right:
[[Some other page]] -> Some other page
[[a page -> Some other page]] -> Some other page
[[Some {other} page]] -> Some page
[[Some {-other} page]] -> Some page
[[Some other page{+s}]] -> Some other pages
[[Some {-other} page{+s}]] -> Some other pages
It is getting a tad complicated, I also think you want to hide text more
often than you want to add. What do you think?
