I can't answer. Because I had already add 'target=' fields, without result, before deleting .pageindex. If the 'target=' method worked for you, and not for me, I tried to imagine what can be different in my case from your case. And perhaps, as Chris suggested, deleting .pageindex was sufficient. Incidently, I had to boost the maximum execution time, and the memory allowed to scripts in order to permit the first display (rebuilding .pageindex and perhaps other stuff ?). I can do some tests the next time I need to import files (in some weeks), but I don't like this idea : the black box method should be used only when there is no other mean to know how a software functions. I made a quick search on .pageindex in the pmwiki doc. I have found no details about the way this file is created, used and updated, except that it is used to speed the process. I know that the answer is somewhere in the source code, but I am not a hacker. If somebody can help to understand the principles in pointing to some page, or in giving here some words, as Patrick does sometimes, I should be really grateful. Thanks.
