At this point my basic question still remains: why does the Site Footer appear
twice? I actually have a new piece of information which may help somebody
point me in the right direction. If you compare

http://www.davidaspitzley.org/potatopatch

with

http://www.davidaspitzley.org/potatopatch/index.php?n=Main.HomePage

you'll see that the former shows the footer twice, while the latter only shows
it once. So, can anybody point me in the direction of something in pmwiki.php
which would result in an explicit page reference having different footer
treatement than a reference to the root directory? This whole thing is really
making it difficult for me to get my site online, so any help would be
appreciated.

Yeah, but why does the SiteFooter itself show up twice?

It looks like the SiteFooter has markup which includes the comments.
