A few things:
More precisely, what do mean by 'doesn't work well'?
Shouldn't: 'sold' -> 'solid'?
Changing skins.php is not a good idea. Why does this need to be in
skins.php? Ah! Do you mean the skin's .php file?
This looks like simply CSS stuff, so why not edit the skin? Something
like:

(:if auth admin:)
<link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'
href='$FarmPubDirUrl/skins/skin_name/extra_admin.css' />-->
