I recently had a similar problem on my server which is running different wiki software. So I went to http://www.pmwiki.org/wiki/Test/Test and got apparent page build times of 3+ seconds. Seemed excessive. But I may be reading the times at the bottom wrong. Anyway, I'm guessing Pm's server doesn't have CPU limits, like a shared hoster. The only way to test the software fairly, is to install a couple systems (like drupal, moodle, etc) on the same machine, and get them to do some kind of comparable task. But even that's not really fair as wiki's do so much more processing, and something like PmWiki has so many more capabilities. So I'm not sure what the best solution is. But I would like a bit more discussion of the issue--to see if there aren't ways to test for a problem, tweak performance, or perhaps a recommendation of where to get good webhosting that won't cause this problem.
