This statement:
(:if equal 1 1:)here (:x:19:)(:else:)there (:x:23:)(:if:)
Returns a value for x of 23. Why? It looks like the condition evaluates
correctly since 'here' is displayed on the page, but the value is set
from the 'else'.

If this is invalid markup for some reason, what is the correct way to
conditionally set a PTV?
