No not locked to a particular user. Pages in the category should be not visible to anyone who has not logged in with at least editor level permissions. I am very happy with Peter's custom action solution, except it refuses to "unprotect" for me at least. I tried looking at the test page with a text editor and confirmed that the password was set correctly, and the variable protected was set correctly, but neither was getting reset.

I assume that this has something to do with my particular setup-- although I cannot imagine what, so I am just going to keep at it. Thanks for the help though, it was very much appreciated.

I was working on a custom action. I sent out my code yesterday, but I am still not getting anywhere. Any help with a "password protect/ unprotect with

One thing I'm not clear on here: will each page be locked to a
*specific* user or @group in SiteAdmin.AuthUser? It still seems that
using PmWiki's built-in authorization scheme would be best, but that
perhaps combining that with a push-button interface to lock the page
rather than making the editors go through the business with
?action=attr ... coming up with a secondary scheme seems rather
invovled, and much more prone to error as it's not been as well
tested. The method Peter started out on is my guess as the best way to
go about this.
