People can set their preferences in a cookie, see the pages:

This page [[Site.Preferences]] should be on your own wiki as well; to create
different settings simply copy the page to a different name and change the
lines with 'e_rows' and 'e_cols'. Then users can follow the link "Set
Preferences of this Page".
This concerns the default edit form. If the skin contains a custom edit
form, it may or may not work with Site.Preferences.
