OK on the spelling, but you got the point, or did you? I'm not suggesting
a coup. I suggest there has been a coup. It took place in 2000 with the
stealing of the election from Gore and again in 2004 and now with all
judges being replaced by right-wing activist judges the coup "d'etat" is
essentially being completed. The only way to overcome a coup is
revolution or another coup - perhaps by the military. I'm not sure I would
like the results but it might be more benign than the regime now
controlling the country.

Now, that said, I'm not certain that democracy is the answer because I
happen to agree with the neocons at least on this, that most people are
not capable or qualified for self-determination and when I was a kid
living in that hotel in Miami Beach (for five years) and the oldsters who
also lived there were daily debating socialism and benign dictatorships
and fascism there was an argument for a dictatorship with a
well-intentioned dictator as opposed to democracy which rarely works well
- because of bad concessions which have to be made or an uninformed populi
and what was/is being informed anyway?

I suggest we must also consider our human nature and instincts which are
animalistic and while I don't want to deny a human condition, sentience is
not necessary limited to humans. We are not so great as many think humans
are nor so special (and it is vainglorious of us to think so) and I do not
believe we have the right morally to give greater rank to humans in every
case. I do not believe we have the right to sacrifice animals for
research, even when used for medical reason when it benefits humans. I'm
not sure what this human condition means anymore than social and physical
scientists can decide what consciousness and the mind or what some refer
to as the soul really means, if anything.
