Bush Rejects Lebanon's Call for Cease-Fire

St. Petersburg, Russia - President Bush rejected
Lebanon's calls for a cease-fire in escalating Mideast
violence on Friday, saying only that Israel should try
to limit civilian casualties as it steps up attacks on
its neighbor.
"The president is not going to make military
decisions for Israel," White House spokesman Tony Snow
said.
"We think it's important that, in doing that, they
try to limit as much as possible the so-called
collateral damage, not only on civilians but also on
human lives," Snow said.

Snow said.
Collateral damage: REAL collateral damage, as
opposed to SO-CALLED collateral damage, which is
really NOT either damage or collateral, but is a sort
of re-arrangement or re-furbishment of objects in the
process of modifying their un-damaged-ness-i-tation.
Civilians: objects whose un-damaged-ness-itation
may be modified, including saguaro cacti, John Deere
tractors, incubi and succubi, garbage-disturbing
racoons, and things which go boomp in the night.
Unequivocally excluded from this class of phenomena
are
the following:
Human lives: the animated condition of something
mysteriously referred to as 'human', but which seem to
be capable of sustaining a condition mistakenly
denominated as 'damage' of the variety known as
"collateral."
