Hmmn - I had the understanding that these were needed only because of
pathnaming differences between the two OS's which arose from comparing
output generated on VMS with expected output generated on Unix. Perhaps
I misread the email from Charles Lane who said he was the one that added
the VMS-specific code for that reason (but that was the impression I got).
If it is indeed for portability - I will keep it in Pod::Parser.
But the only portions of code it seems to affect are the printing of
file-paths on output. I tried to fix all those by munging them when the
corresponding pathname data-field is set (or shortly thereafter) rather
than everytime it is queried.
