Looks like the t/pod/*.xr expected results need to be updated
to reflect this change to Pod::Text. Russ: if you can verify
that the outputs are correct modulo an occasional s/`/'/, then
one can replace the xyz.xr files with the xyz.OUT files in the
test-suite for 5.7. [Note: that this will break "make test"
for those using an earlier version of Pod::Text.]
