I've already looked at it and I don't believe it will be suitable for my
purposes, but when I get to that point I'll look at it again.

There are a bunch of underlying assumptions that I have to understand
first to really understand what needs to be done for escape processing,
and I won't have a handle on that until I really understand how groff
handles character set parsing and how it expects one to deal with
non-ASCII character sets, which requires that I sit down and spend several
days reading. I plan on doing that, but it pretty much has to happen
during a work vacation, which means either the end of this month or the
end of this month at the earliest.
