Hi all.

I have developed under the auspices of PTI (www.pti.co.il) a module Pod::Index . You can see a working demonstration at http://podindex.pti.co.il/ .

The basic idea is that perlindex is good, but not good enough. Pod:Index is based off of the latest perlindex code, and has both fulltext searches (like the original) and table of contents searching.

Table of contents searching is searching through the pods for "Headers". Right now, it uses the "=head" lines in the pods and constructs a Table of Contents out of that.

However, the correct way for my module to work (and it is already set up for it) is to scan X<...> tags in the pods, which is what the X<...> tag was designed for anyway. Of course, no facility has been written to take advantage of X<...> tags until now, so no one has put them in.

a) I would appreciate comments on what has been done so far (advice to quit, bugs, encouragement, etc..)

b) I would liek to know how to solve teh chicken egg problem, with asking all pod writers to add appropriate X<...> tags to their documentation, so that they can be properly indexed.

c) I have a slight problem with the name, in that it is taken by someone who hasn't been on CPAN in several years, and who does not have a working email or url. He has the name reservd, but has not done any work. I've been trying to contact him. Any ideas?
