I mean anything over 255.Yes, but to get characters over 255 you must assume the stream is utf-8, and when it is not you get the malformed UTF8 character warnings.
No, you can get characters over 255 from E<somename> or E<somenumber>. (And also via non-utf8 =encoding'd documents, of course.)
