Embedded entity tags fail

Hi,
     When I have something like this

C<func(arg1, E<13>
arg2  E<13>
arg3  E<13>
arg4) E<13>>

pod2html outputs something like this

<p>
func(arg1 E&lt;13&gt;,
arg2 E&lt;13&gt;
arg3 E&lt;13&gt;
arg4) E&lt;13&gt;

instead of

<p>
func(arg1 &#13;
arg2 &#13; 
arg3 &#13;
arg4) &#13;

I tested that the E<13> was correctly formed by moving it outside 
of the C<...stuff...>.

So the questions: 

Is this correct behavior?
And if not, is the example at the top correctly formed?

Is there a better way that doesn't require a bunch of CR/LF additions?
Would you show me?
