Had you seen the rest of the thread?  There was quite a bit of discussion
of the backward compatibility issues, including the goals.  Could you
please fix these so that Pod::Man can be upgraded in the Perl core
distribution?  There isn't anything I can do about them on the Pod::Man
side that I can see without going to bizarre lengths, and it's quite
natural to fix them in Pod::Simple.

The most important from my perspective is for Pod::Simple to close file
descriptors that it opens; not doing this causes real problems on Windows.
