My 2c: allow L<text|URL> in future POD. Rendering depends on the Output formatter, there are IMHO two options: 1. (preferred) render as "clickable" hyperlink to URL, showing <text> (only) 2. render as <text (URL)> for text outputs. Can URI be used to safely detect whether URL is an absolute URL?
