Hi, I have a question about Free Text Annotations. If I am reading the spec correctly, the DA key is required (but it is not set by PoDoFo) but the AP key (set in PoDoFo by SetAppearanceStream) takes precedence if present.
If the DA key is missing and no AP key is present, Adobe Reader (on linux) displays the contents normally, however poppler-based readers do not display anything and complain about a bad appearance. If the DA key is present and contains [100]rg /Helv 12 Tf (set the color font and fontsize), poppler-based readers display a rectangle with no text and Adobe Reader seems to ignore it. If the AP key is present, then Acrobat displays nothing while poppler-based readers display a rectangle filled with the color from the C key if the DA key is present (otherwise they display nothing). Pdfedit (based on xpdf according to the pages: pdfedit.sourceforge.net) displays the freetext annotation fine. I would like to ask, whether the DA key is required and what it should contain. Moreover I would like to ask whether there is something wrong with the SetAppearanceStream method or why does Adobe Reader not display the appearance stream. I have uploaded the file that I am having trouble with to http://jonathan.verner.matfyz.cz/download/1_page-var.pdf Have a nice day, Jonathan Verner ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fulfilling the Lean Software Promise Lean software platforms are now widely adopted and the benefits have been demonstrated beyond question.
