I'm not responsible for this, but I would not fix this issue the way you're doing, as it's just a a workaround of the real issue: PdfFont is stateful and it should not be. I would recommend you to use the fix for your local copy of PoDoFo, but mainstream should have better solution, at the cost of breaking the API and of course it's a much more invasive change.
