Thanks for the points and the words of caution. You're probably right. I'm
sure I'll learn a bit in trying even if I don't succeed. I'm a lazy guy
(c.f Slobberbone ), I did the basic Java course 18 months ago but without a
real project to use it on I haven't used it.
Thing was I was really excited about the prospect of getting back to a
proper programming language, O-O and even using UML. Unfortunately the
market died and there just weren't opportunities for neophyte Java
developers wibble, wibble...

Thanks to everyone for those pointers. If I get there I'll be back.
