1. Easy - You just write the anchors of the graphic and embed it in the file (I think just under the anchor record thingy .. I think tis called DSO)
2. Hard - You have to implemnet Office GRaphcis format first.
I don't plan on working on this until after 2.0 is released. So if you want me to do it, help with formulas and graphs ;-) (they are much easier)
This is really a better conv for poi-dev btw.
If you want to help grab a copy of the Excel Developer's Kit from www.amazon.com (out of print but available used for cheap!) and check out chicago.sourceforge.net where the office graphics format is documneted (I htink its called escher)
