I would just like to state that I haven't been involved in any email trading
on this subject, but I am subscribed to this list through my corporate email
account and 'Big Brother' is always watching. I find this list very helpful
and so far everyone has been very courteous.

As a professional favor, can we keep any bad words out of our emails? I
know it is possible to convey our sentiments through clean language and then
I can continue to subscribe to this list which I find helpful and useful.

Thanks very much,
Melinda

First I would have to download all of the source for the level. That alone
is far more work than writing an e-mail.

Then I would have to install grep for doing the global search of the source
because I am working on Windows and it doesn't come with such a tool. So
you are going to come back with some stupid wisecrack about the wisdom of
working on Windows. However the whole point of this project is to deal with
files created on Windows! Furthermore the application I am developing is
intended to be run on Windows. If I were to do my application development
on UNIX just to gain access to grep (OK there are a lot of other good
reasons) then I would have to frequently reboot to switch back to Windows to
test if it still worked there or to create new test cases. That seems like
an awfully high overhead to me.

Finally I do not feel that I should be compelled to become an active
participant in the development of POI simply to read some XXXXXX Excel
spreadsheets! I have already had to patch two of the modules to fix
crashes! And when I reported the problem I was told that I would have to
use another UNIX only tool to submit the report, so I gave up. By the way
this thread is on the USERS mailing list, not the developers list.

The only reason I went to 1.8.0 was because I had a problem at the latest
level identified as "release" so it was recommended that I try the most
recent "development" level.

So your response is completely out of line. I feel I am due an apology.
