// create the output stream for the workbook FileOutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(ssLocation + ssName); // create a new workbook HSSFWorkbook wb = new HSSFWorkbook(); // create a new sheet HSSFSheet sheet = wb.createSheet(); After you create the sheet you can add rows and cells to it.
