Thank you for your response. I will go on with my project using the
version 2.0.
I think that the event model, is a nice way to read an Excel document. It
almost looks like that way you are handling an XML document with a SAX
parser. But where can I find some information, about the structure of an
Excel document? I found out that you have to know more about the structure
when you are using the event model, than when you are using the in-memory
way.

The eventmodel is not as widely used as the regular in-memory version
(AFAIK) so with few users comes fewer people that are available to
answer your question.
We're preparing 2.0 for release so we're confident that it's pretty
stable. There was also a nasty concurrency bug fixed in 2.0pre2 so 2.0
is recommended.
