I got a similar error. It happened because I was creating a new format (style and font) for each cell. Since the size of my excel sheet was large it exceeded the max fonts allowed. One solution to such a problem is to restrict the no. of fonts you create. Since max. distinct fonts should be much lesser than no. of cells, you could use some pre created fonts.
