Can you search bugzilla to see if a similar issue exists?
No time tables but I hope to be able to spend a good amount of time HSSF shortly but this comes after getting validation lists to work properly.

There is no API support for those constructs. HSSF SHOULD be able to handle the load/write aspect of it without (ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException should be nailed in CVS) any problem.
