This short code also works:
                Long l = new Long(LittleEndian.getLong(src, offset));
                value = Double.longBitsToDouble(l.longValue());
But I don´t know if it is right.

I can do that if someone tells me how values are stored bitwise in such
a field. A link to some documentation would be nice.
