Hi List, while dealing with POI/HSSF for several weeks in a quite big pro- ject at my customer site we encountered some difficulties (aka out-of-memory exceptions) in the areas of formatting huge lists and and juggling with fancy formatting (many fonts). And I know of cause that the *very* clear reason for this is the ultimative broken BIFF format in Excel 97.
Before we make an other pace towards more POI programming to gene- rate sophisticated template: Is there a kind of best practise guide or other hints what to do (and much more) to avoid in composing sheets and generate them programmatically with HSSF? The reason is obvious - I don't want to design yummy sheets with niffy features and run into trouble afterwards while implementing that stuff. Any hint is warmly welcome ;=).
