I couldn´t connect to cvs.sourceforge.net either.
Could you please send me the most recent poi´s version?
I need to report a xls format with image in a project for Brazil´s
goverment balance.

My best guess is that you've got some sort of firewalling problems. Can you
telnet to port 2401 on cvs.apache.org? As a test, also try port 2401 on
cvs.sourceforge.net. If you can't connect to either, then you'll have to
poke your firewall until it lets you out
