If your data is non latin-1 e.g. for example Chinese, Vietnamese... you need
to set the cell encoding to 16 bits.
By default poi use 8 bits.

Subject: How to insert UTF-8 text data in excel cells?

Hi,

I retrieve UTF-8 text data from database which I need to insert into
the cells of an Excel sheet. I inserted the data directly into the
cell without changing the properties of the cell or transforming the
text before the inserting it into the cell but what I got in my Excel
sheet was a bunch of garbage text.

Does anybody know what I have to do for inserting UTF-8 data into the
Excel cells?

Thanks in advance,
Behi
