Just a thought here: Is it possible that you are you putting any formatting
information in the string like font or size, etc., they would take up space
too.

Subject: HSSFHeader maximum length of 255 bytes?

I'm trying to set a string into the header that's 244 characters long and
the
excel only displays the first letter. I searched around and the
documentation
says the header has a limit of 255 byes, but i put in a string of 214
characters
and it was displayed. Any reasons for this? Also, is there anyway to get
around
the 255 character limit?

Thanks
