That's the long and short of it. POI was recommended as a group with some idea of how to go about it. I've made a requisite number of files in both MS Works Word 4.0 and MS Works Word 2003. I just need some advice on how to decipher the format, what sorts of tools are necessary, and what public information Microsoft might have available that would be useful.
I've tried google, but it isn't as helpful as I'd hoped - deciphering office application file formats is more of a black art than deciphering executable file formats.
