Hello, HWPF is in my opinion only reliable for reading Word files. It does not support writing word files which are relevant in real life. The problem exists because many tables of properties in a Word file are not correctly handled yet - a lot of work is done, but too much work is simply not yet done. Having headers, footers, fields or 2-byte characters in a Word file makes it impossible to use HWPF for writing Word files right now. You certainly can create files, but they are not valid and Word will hang or crash on them. Sorry for the bad news.
