As everyone knows, I remain very clueless about Javascript. A friend of mine, though, when I showed him the earthquake deployment, had the suggestion that I quote below. I leave it to the Javascript experts among us to know if we should look into this. Here's what my friend said:
Minifying and combining the js would be a huge help. ... 21 js includes [is a lot]. [Any site] will be slow with that many round trips. [Take a look at] http://developer.yahoo.com/performance/rules.html . High Performance Web Sites by Steve Souders is the bible on this stuff. There are quite a few minify programs, we use yahoo's.
