I only allow SASL for outgoing mail from my networks, no exceptions. 
Unless the spambot uses authentication, mail goes nowhere (also force 
everything using port redirects on the router).

Policyd works great for me for throttling.
I also use the anvil feature in postfix for the super hammering systems.
