Thanks for the information. I think during log rotation there is one short time when syslog is not available. Perhaps it is a specific behaviour of syslog-ng. I use it because of remote logging is more secure using tcp/ip instead of udp. I think using syslog is quit ok. There are more benefits than problems. The crash happend one time. I think it would be possible to include a special script in logrotation to check if policyd-weight is healthy or not. If not it would be possible to restart policyd-weight.
