In FreeBSD sources I read in sys/time.h
#define timevalcmp(tvp, uvp, cmp) \
(((tvp)->tv_sec == (uvp)->tv_sec) ? \
((tvp)->tv_usec cmp (uvp)->tv_usec) : \
((tvp)->tv_sec cmp (uvp)->tv_sec))
It seems to have an diffent API and I don't know if it uses less operations on
default path.
