Hmmm. But what about the user agent ids?
I am looking for statistics, and by countries if possible. Which is the best
string to announce--when one doesn't use a *mainstream* browser? I have read
that 80% of the computers in Vietnam are trojaned, zombified, and the like.
This might be a representative situation for enough others countries beyond
ASEAN too.
By telling nothing I reduce the *codomain* the *watchers* need to
investigate/track:
"" x browser x *nix x IP x ...
"" x "" x *nix x IP x ...
where browser announced can be proven true or not and a signature of probes of
the browser, the OS, etc. can be attached.
Is telling--example--Mozilla/someversion enough anodyne ... when I am using
a browser which does _not_ belong to the Netscape family? What do most users
announce? Is telling nothing in, say, Malaysia, or Hong Kong, as good and
effective as saying nothing in Germany, France or Texas?
What do most (if any) *nix users in given regions announce? How does a
*default* installation look? How frequent is the, e.g., above mentioned "" x
"" x ... configuration?
Notice that is _not_ secrecy that is worrying me ... if I would need secrecy I
would then encrypt the information I would send
Let me make a comparison. Malaria. If you use mosquito-nets, you cover well
your body, don't go outdoor at give times of the day, etc., you protect
_yourself_. If you use mosquito-killing lotions and creams [which you can't
do regularly in the long term though] you protect the _others_ as well [by
reducing/exterminating the mosquito population [micro-] locally. (Do you
understand what I mean?)
