Also reproduced on polipo-1.0.0 and polipo-0.9.99.0. I get the "503 Post
aborted" at least 50% of the time. I'm doing "make clean && make" each
time I "git checkout" a different tag.

Tags polipo-0.9.5 and earlier have a read-only local interface so I
can't test on those. polipo-0.9.99.0 is from 2006, so unless I'm doing
something very wrong, it seems that this bug has been present all along
and shouldn't necessarily stand in the way of a 1.0.5 release.
