Because you can't stop progress no matter what you do. At some point in the not so distant future, the ability for humans to analyse, react and control current human events, will be superseded by machines. In other words; we will outsmart ourselves, in order to let the machines take over. And when that happens, progress for all of humanity will increase exponentially.
