> Rachel sped off the ferry. She had tried to rush Danae in packing, yet the
girl seemed reluctant to leave her house. It had taken her almost an hour to
convince the girl to leave, and she was wondering what was going on when she
pulled up. An rag-tag bunch were walking towards her SUV. Danae sat in the
side passenger seat, looking worn and tired. "Derek, what..." she stared at
the woman who followed him, astonished. She had never met the young woman,
but Alex and Nick had told her enough stories about her and she had seen
pictures so that she recognized her immediately. "Oh my God." she gasped.
She looked at the others, then back at Julia. (( =) ))

"Rachel, I'm glad you're here," Derek said, in his my thinking <thank God.>
Now he had a professional to deal with the hysteria. "Julia," he said
gently, "this is Rachel Corrigan, Kat's mother." Then something occurred to
him. "Do you remember me telling you that we were looking for a little girl
in a red coat? Kat was that little girl." He didn't like the idea of
bringing up Ireland at all, but he thought Julia really needed a frame of
reference, so as not to think they had replaced her, because Rachel was not
a replacement for her, just an addition to the group.
