Nick stood by the bed either looking around the room or staring at the bathroom door. "Yes, I still use that brand, there's nothing wrong with it," he told her before she ducked back into the bathroom.

Nick nodded a little then watched her hop around trying to get the socks on. This would probably be funny or maybe something to laugh at if he was actually in a mood to laugh. "Sorry for what?" Sits down on the bed, keeping his gaze on Julia. "For dying? Why would you feel sorry for that? It wasn't you're fault. Its only your fault when you are the one that caused the death. So if you're thinking that I'm mad at you for anything, stop thinking it."
 
"For the pain." she said quietly, seeing the fact it had hurt him in his eyes and the way he... he was keeping a kind of emotional distance from her.  Knowing Nick like she did she could well imagine what he had gone through -- and that it was all coming back to him now because she was back.  She wished she could just erase it all away and see that boyish grin again, without the hint of pain now in his brown eyes.  She sighed and put her forehead against his  "And you were probably mad as hell at Derek...."  She was pretty sure he would have been.  Nick was in charge of security and it had always been his policy that when faced with that level of danger, partner up.  But at the time, and with the urgency of finding the girl... it would have been impossible to cover that much ground and partner up between three people.
 
Had the roles been reversed.... it would have killed a part of her if he had been the one that died that day....
