"Yes," Kat replied slowly.  She hadn't really talked about that very much with anyone.  "Daddy brought me an angel doll at Christmas and I saw them both.  He said he couldn't come back, but you did.  So, I thought he might be wrong.  He could have been wrong."  Kat still didn't understand why Julia got to come back.  "If you came back, why can't anybody who wants to do it?"     This was the hard part.  Julia knew it and was sure Kat's mother knew it.  She looked at the girl asking her with hope in her eyes and leaned in closer, holding the girl's hands in her own as she tried to explain.   "Your Dad wasn't wrong, hon.  He can't come back like that." she stressed the last two words so that Kat would pick up on it especially "But he does come back every day.  He watches over you when you let him.  The place he's in let's him stay there to so that he can do that... because that's where he's happiest; when he's watching you and your mom."   Julia had no idea why she knew these things but she'd bank on it that it was true.  She didn't know about Connor though.  She hadn't felt anything about the boy...   "I was allowed back," she tried to explain the reason she knew to be true but knew it wasn't the full truth "Because I had to come back.  I wasn't happy..."  that was lame, she knew, so she tried something else "And it wasn't my time."  That explained it better  "The... the bad man that tried to hurt you and your mom... do you remember him?"  She looked at Rachel, promising with her gaze that she wouldn't say anything a girl Kat's age shouldn't hear before looking back at Kat.   [tag]
